SAFEGUARDING & WELFARE

Child Protection Statement & Policy 

LINKES believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people, by a commitment to practice that protects them. 

We recognise that: 

  • the welfare of the child/young person is paramount  

  • all children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief,  sexual orientation, or identity, have the right to equal protection from all types of  harm or abuse 

  • working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers and their agencies is essential in promoting young people’s welfare. 

The purpose of the policy is: 

  • to provide protection for the children and young people who receive Linkes Youth Club services.  

  • to provide staff and volunteers with guidance on procedures they should adopt in the event that they suspect a child or young person may be experiencing, or be at risk of, harm. 

  • this policy applies to all paid staff, volunteers, management committee members,  or anyone working on behalf of LINKES. 

We will seek to safeguard children and young people by:

  • valuing them, listening to and respecting them. 

  • appointing a Designated Child Protection Lead for children and young people. 

  • adopting child protection and safeguarding practices through procedures and a code of conduct for staff and volunteers. 

  • recruiting staff and volunteers safely, ensuring all necessary checks are made

  • sharing information about child protection and good practices with children, parents, staff, and volunteers. 

  • sharing information about concerns with agencies who need to know, and involving parents and children appropriately. 

  • providing effective management for staff and volunteers through supervision,  support, and training. 

Safeguarding and Welfare for Adults Policy

Safeguarding means protecting people's health, wellbeing and human rights, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. At Linkes we understand this to mean protecting people, including children and at-risk adults, from harm that may arise from coming into contact with our staff or our services.

This policy applies to all Linkes staff and the Board of Trustees, volunteers, partners or anyone else working on behalf of Linkes.

This policy is concerned with our commitment and approaches to safeguarding adults at risk of harm. For information on our approach to safeguarding for Children and Young People please see our Child Protection Policy.

Linkes’ data protection procedures are governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR 2018). Formerly, Linkes’ data protection procedures were governed by the Data Protection Act, 1998. GDPR 2018 builds on the data protection principles of the Data Protection Act. 

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Linkes aim to provide high quality, accessible and responsive services to all our members and people who use our services. We welcome every opportunity to monitor and improve the services that we provide. As part of this commitment, we have established a clear complaints procedure to enable individuals and organisations using our services to make suggestions and complaints.
